Professionally, I'm the founder of Beach Street Legal LLC, a law firm + compliance consultancy for entrepreneurial investment advisers and financial planners. We counsel advisers and planners regarding federal and state securities laws, SEC rules and regulations, RIA mergers & acquisitions, investment management compliance, RIA registration, and general corporate legal matters. Previously I was the GC & CCO to a multi-billion dollar RIA, mutual fund family, and broker-dealer.

Personally, I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my family outdoors - preferably in and around mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, beaches, and trails in between. But my back yard will do just fine. 

My attempt to balance family, business, and outdoors enthusiasm is the genesis of back40.lawyer. From an etymological perspective, the term "back 40" refers to the most remote plot of a farmer's land. In modern parlance, it generally means any remote area of natural land to which someone can get away to enjoy the stillness of nature. You've probably heard it in a country song.

Though bare bones for now, I hope to eventually build out this website as time permits. For now, I've included a few links of interest below.
